Upcoming Performances Featuring New York-based Pianist Ryan Slatko
(Published: January 21, 2018)

Pianist Ryan Slatko will be performing various shows throughout New York and the Tri-State-area over the coming months, with an upcoming appearance this Tuesday, January 23rd at Minton's Playhouse in Harlem, NY. He will be joined by Alex Claffy (bass), and Mike Piolet (drums); sets are at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with a $10 cover. Earlier in January, Slatko played at Shape Shifter Lab with his quartet that included Ari Hoenig (drums), Matt Penman (bass), and Todd DelGiudice (alto saxophone).

Next month, Slatko will appear at Bar 9 with the Azat Bayazitov quartet featuring Dan Pappalardo and Mark Whitfield Jr.; 53 Above at Broadway with Sofia Sarlat (February 9th); and Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford, CT (February 26th).

Having recently graduated from New York University with a master's degree in music, Slatko has been increasingly playing within the local jazz scene and continues to expand his role as a leader. The young musician released his debut album last year entitled First Impressions that showcases his original compositions and a notable line-up including Daniel Dickinson (alto/soprano saxophone); Linda May Han Oh (acoustic bass); Ulysses Owens, Jr. (drums); Joel Ross (vibraphone); and Samir Zarif (tenor saxophone). Also, last fall, he acted as the musical director for the world premiere of LIGHTS OUT: Nat King Cole! that debuted at Steinbright Stage in Malvern, PA.
