With startling versions of Invitation and Coming Home Baby Saxophonist and Flutist Mikole E. Kaar delivers a compelling new CD!
(Published: February 15, 2018)

PALM SPRINGS, CA February 15th, 2018 - Brooklyn NY born and a long time resident of Palm Springs saxophonist and flutist Mikole E. Kaar has released a 9 tune set including 7 original's that places his personal sound front and center!

For Mikole E. Kaar the fire to play music came early in life, as Mikole reflects "when I saw the trumpets demonstrated at the school assembly when I was 9 years old I new I wanted to play"!

Doing these early years it was the music influences of all the big bands of the era, specifically Artie Shaw, the clarinet was young Mikole's first instrument, that were his influences.

It wasn't long after that Mikole was introduced to the saxophone, Mikole explains " I only had a clarinet and my folks wouldn't get me a sax. I went out with one of the older kids in the neighborhood and we raked leaves until I made about 12 bucks. I went to the music store the next day and rented a tenor. After that they took over paying for the rental"! .

´╗┐Soon after he formed his first group and played a few rhythm and blues gig's, aside from jazz rhythm and blues was also a favorite for Mikole E. Kaar.

Later in college Mikole added the flute and today he regularly plays and records with tenor and flute!

Mikole E. Kaar opens with the title track his original Dar-liscious, "dedicated to a former lady friend" with a tender low keyed tenor nearly sultry until it segues to the warm and natural tone of guitarist Doug Macdonald who is cut from the same cloth as Herb Ellis or maybe Charlie Byrd!

On track 2 "Give Em Heaven" Mikole switches to flute and the love mood continues as well the excellent guitar soloing of Doug Macdonald. As with track one veteran drummer Paul Kreibich who at the young age of 23 toured with Carmen McRae and spent several years with Ray Charles supplies wonderful brush accompaniment here.

The tempo and energy picks up with track 3 Invitation. Mikole plays with an endless stream of ideas as is the solo of Paul Kreibich with his brushes aside! The musical imagination of Doug Macdonald is very vivid of his vibrant solo here!

Mikole E. Kaar continues with more sheets of sound on the classic Coming Home Baby. While true to the tradition of the tune Mikole breathes new life and passion into this gem! Veteran bassist Harvey Newmark's pulsating lines shines brightly here as well, while Doug Macdonald has another exhilarating solo!

Another display of Mikole's strong compositional skill shines brightly with A Song For Claire. Staying with the flute his playing is sharp and crisp, this one is sure to be at the top of many jazz stations playlist!

Giving his affinity for rhythm and blues Mikole tips his pin and his tenor to that genre with Blues For Jack. This may put some in the mind of the best of the great Stanley Turrentine! Doug Macdonald takes a groove laced stroll down blues lane as well on this swinging blues tune!

Perhaps Mikole's most progressive playing and writing on the date is present on track 7, Dynamic Dynamo. At one point the guitar and bass drop out and leave saxophone and drums to share the improvisation! This tune is very appropriately titled!

Two more tenor lead originals, Black Ballet and Please Make Up Your Mind round out the CD and will leave you feeling you've just experienced something very special!

Mikole E. Kaar has assembled a stellar group of very gifted musicians to execute his well written plan leading towards a very different and refreshing musical experience that is Dar-liscious!
