Homeless Balloon experiments with vintage and futuristic fusion sounds on new EP (Published: May 06, 2018)
Homeless Balloon's new EP Drive Green is an experimental and innovative fusion of vintage and futuristic soundscapes, which dives deep into different ambient ideas.
The first track,"Driving At Night," is an atmospheric and haunting offering with a spirit of its own. This is a deeply cinematic cut and it is true to its title: it would be the perfect accompaniment to a long nighttime drive.
The futuristic and dystopian aesthetics of this single gradually draw the listener into the nuances of the sound and keeps them engaged throughout to the entire release. It is definitely hard to command listener's undivided attention with largely instrumental music, but Homeless Balloon seems to do this with seemingly effortless ease.
"Bumping" immediately follows the initial intro to Drive Green and it brings some much needed diversity and energy to the album with a more upbeat and jazz fusion-inspired energy. The 80's-influenced "Road To Nowhere" is reminiscent of the soundtrack to the sci-fi TV series Stranger Things and the recent film release Blade Runner 2049. Homeless Balloon evokes this retro atmospheric vibe that is rich and resplendent with textural layers.
What is perhaps most enjoyable about Drive Green are the production values and the diverse array of sounds in the palette of this performer.
