The Brazilian Jazz Collective Brings A Youthful Approach To An Honored Tradition of Music
(Published: November 20, 2009)

(Los Angeles, November 20, 2009) On Sunday, November 29, 2009 the Brazilian Jazz Collective, featuring Danny Green (piano), Ami Molinelli (percussion) and Eva Scow (mandolin), will begin their first California tour to present their unique collaboration of music. The group performs an energetic mixture of originals laced with the repertoire of Chico Pinheiro, Guinga, Jovino Santos-Neto, and Chick Corea.

The three musicians normally lead their own groups and come from a variety of different musical backgrounds, which creates an exciting blend of rhythms, melodic concepts and interpretations. After meeting last summer at Brazil Camp they decided to put together the Brazilian Jazz Collective to share the passion and joy they feel about Brazilian and Latin Jazz. Pacific Coast Jazz label artist Danny Green commented, "this tour is a great opportunity for us to introduce each other to our respective communities of the Bay Area, LA, San Diego and Fresno where our music has been shaped and to include other musicians in those areas of California to join us."

The Brazilian Jazz Collective will be appearing November 29th at Spazio in LA, December 2nd at Anthology in San Diego, December 4th at Red White and Bluezz in Pasadena, December 5th at Hero's in Fresno, December 6th at Anna's Jazz Island in Berkeley, and December 9th at Steamer's Café in Fullerton. For more specific information about the tour go to: http://www.myspace.com/br....

The combination of skills from these artists covers a wide range from Jazz, Brazilian, Latin, Cuban, African, World, Contemporary and Classical music genres. Danny Green's current CD, With You In Mind, has been called "a brilliant musical statement" and was recently awarded Best Jazz Album of the Year during the San Diego Music Awards. Green has been noted as one of the new "young jazz lions" including a quote from a recent review which said," he will no doubt become one of the more important musicians and names in jazz, perhaps becoming this generations equivalent of Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Dave Brubeck."

Ami Molinelli's release Viajando:Choro e Jazz has not only received recognition in the United States but also throughout Brazil. Amis other recordings and performances are with Jovino Santos Neto, Michael Spiro, John Santos, Teka, Hamilton de Hollanda, Kleber Jorge, Rob Kyle, Danny Grisset, Keith Terry, John Heard, the NBC Series "Studio 60" house band and the Los Angeles Philharmonic (where she works both as a teaching-artist of percussion and in curriculum development).

Besides mandolin, Eva Scow is equally as competent on violin and has performed and/or recorded with David Grisman, Mike Marshall, Anthony Wilson, Mark Summer (Turtle Island String Quartet) and was invited to participate in a workshop and performance at Carnegie Hall with musicians Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, and Mike Marshall. Her latest release is titled, Sharon By The Sea.
