Collegiate Shag Brass Band deliver powerful slices of funk, jazz, and R&B on new album
(Published: August 03, 2018)

Movement, energy, vibrancy and colorfulness. These are only some of the words that pop to the top of my head when describing Mfunk, a fantastic new release from Collegiate Shag Brass Band.

This talented line-up consists of a bunch of powerful musicians, each with a strong technical background and a taste for funk, soul, Motown, and R&B vibes. Mfunk really blurs the lines between old and new school, making for a memorable, direct, and captivating tone.

At the core of it all, the title cut is really a song that's meant to be played loudly on the dance floor. It makes the audience move and really engrosses the heart and the mind with its amazing retro vibes. If you enjoy the work of artists like Big Mean Sound Machine, Lettuce or Vulfpeck, you will absolutely love this one.
