New Beatskey Band and Tal Babitzky album is lush and eloquently played
(Published: August 17, 2018)

On Night Dream, Beatskey Band and Tal Babitzky craft the kind of lush, eloquently played jazz fusion that caresses the ears and paint images in the mind.

The title of the album is completely appropriate as there is a transcendent feel to these compositions. They brim with atmosphere and evening introspection, conveying palpable emotion and uplifting vibes. The record is track after track of gorgeous hooks and classy, top-drawer musicianship.

Babitzky's enchanting keyboards give "Holiday" an immediate glow. His playful melodies deliver the heart an immediate charge. The infectious joy of this track lingers long after it's been played. The velvet smoothness of the sax and deeply pounding bass strengthen its appeal. The production is solid, giving the drums an irresistible kick. "When I'm Walking" is on the more moody side - at least at first. The driving bass is haunting in its reflective approach but the incandescent sax energizes, makes it soar.

Among the finest cuts on the album is "Moments of Passion." It's a Valentine of an instrumental with Babitzky's most romantic playing. Sweetly seductive sax solidifies its warm air of love and affection. Like the best moments on the record, it takes your breath away, lost in reverie.
