New Steve Campbell album is dreamy and lovingly produced
(Published: August 18, 2018)

The stunningly pretty music from composer/pianist Steve Campbell on Morning Dew is like nature's personal mix tape. This album echoes the wondrous images Earth produces on a daily basis, from the golden glow of the sun's awakening to the moonlit romanticism of summer nights.

The moods that Campbell spins on this record conjures memories and flashes of everyday life. It's a dreamy, lovingly produced album that will leave listeners stunned by its streams of sparkling light.

The autumnal beauty of "Daybreak" is so vivid that no words or pictures are needed to imagine what Campbell is attempting here. That first breath of outside air, letting the senses explode with the wonder of it all - Campbell captures it perfectly. His piano is a paint brush, and his mind is the canvas. "Daybreak" is a masterwork, transcending its smooth jazz roots.
Campbell is incredibly versatile as well.

"Step into My World" is energized and upbeat, featuring some of Campbell's most jubilant playing. But the immediate favorite might be "The Image of You." Campbell's silky melodies illustrate a portrait of love that is moving and warm. By aiming at the heart, Campbell reels everyone in with the depth of his feeling as well as talent.
