Hot, Sizzling Jazz on a Cold Winter's Night
(Published: January 04, 2010)

Jazz NightOut, February 6th, 7:30pm, Presented by The Arts Center at Killingworth

New York saxophonist Eli Degibri, who has toured with Herbie Hancock and performed on his three-time Grammy award-winning album Gershwin's World, headlines at The Arts Center at Killingworth's 6th Annual Jazz NightOut. The concert, set in a cafe-style environment, is held at the beloved Ivoryton Playhouse, Saturday, February 6th, 7:30pm. The New York Times notes, "Don't miss Degibri. His music is spiky and immaculately sculptured."

Degibri has performed with many top musicians of jazz including Ron Carter, Eric Reed and Clark Terry. He is an integral part of legendary drummer Al Foster's band and featured on Foster's critically-acclaimed release "Love, Peace and Jazz!" and on his 2008 full-length DVD, "The Paris Concert." Degibri's own acclaimed CDs are In the Beginning, Emotionally Available, and Live at Louis 649. For Jazz NightOut, he brings drummer Obed Calvaire, pianist Kevin Hays, and bassist Reuben Rogers.

The evening kicks off with the Shoreline's own drummer Tom Briggs and his group CT4. Briggs is an award-winning composer and percussionist of the U.S. Coast Guard Band. He is the Music Director of the Community Music School and leads the CMS Jazz Ensemble. With a career spanning over 30 years, performing both as a soloist and with full symphony orchestras, Briggs' music ranges from traditional and swing, to bop and contemporary. He brings to Jazz NightOut guitarist Kevin O'Neil, pianist Ian Frenkel, and bassist Dave Daddario.

Jazz NightOut will be held at the Ivoryton Playhouse, 103 Main Street, Ivoryton, CT on February 6th at 7:30pm. Early reservations suggested - last year's performance sold-out!
