Guitarist Marcos Toledo releases eloquent, poignant new album (Published: May 03, 2019)
Marcos Toledo has just released his new instrumental jazz album Winter (feat. James Robbins & Dan Nadeau).
The first number, "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You," is an intricate and eloquent start to the record. The song is expressive and poignant, showcasing the striking guitar solos. This song almost sounds like a jam session between Nels Cline and Marc Ribot. It has that classic jazz and hard bop energy with an exciting flair.
"This Room" is an upbeat and vivid offering from Toledo. Its vintage feel recalls artists such as Bob Cooper and Django Reinhardt. "The Room" is smooth, elegant, and classy. The sound of this release feels like one of the classics of the golden age, yet it also has a refreshing contemporary tone that brings a lot of clarity to the vision.
The technical proficiency of each band member is absolutely astonishing, yet what's absolutely miraculous is the sum of all the parts. You can immediately tell that each musician is seasoned and skilled. Together they strike an electric chemistry that is magnificent to listen to.
