Marks Iconic Jazz Label Candid Records' First GRAMMY Win After Historic label Relaunch

(April 5, 2022) Brazilian superstar singer/pianist/composer Elaine Elias has scored her second GRAMMY Award in the category of Best Latin Jazz Album for her critically acclaimed piano duets album featuring the late legendary Chick Corea and Cuban virtuoso Chucho Valdés. The 64th Annual Grammy Awards was telecast from Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Receiving extraordinary response since its release in Sept. of 2021, the album marked one of the first releases by Candid Records under its new leadership and was immediately immortalized by critics as "one of the finest jazz duet albums ever produced!"

"I am thrilled to receive the 2022 GRAMMY Award for Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year," said Elias, currently on tour in Europe with Valdés and Paquita Rivera. "The duets with Chucho Valdés and Chick Corea have a very special meaning to me and I share this honor with them. Thank you to everyone involved in the making of ‘Mirror Mirror' and to all voting members of the Recording Academy. I am truly honored and grateful."

In commenting, John Burk, partner at Exceleration Music stated: "All of us at Exceleration congratulate Eliane on her well-deserved GRAMMY win for Mirror Mirror. Her collaborations with legends Chucho Valdes and Chick Corea on this album are inventive, inspired and nothing short of brilliant." Mark Wexler, Head of Candid Records further stated: "We applaud everyone involved and are honored that one of our first Candid releases has been acknowledged by the Academy in this way."

For Eliane Elias, this organically created collection represents more than simply a culmination of a 40-year career that includes nearly 30 recordings, over 2.3 million albums sold, ten total GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominations and now two GRAMMY wins for Best Latin Jazz Album. MIRROR MIRROR marks the classically trained pianist's first piano-only recording since 1995's Solos and Duets, a set of piano solos and six duets with pianist Herbie Hancock.
