Sean Jones, Live

I've seen a lot of jazz performances. To me, just about nothing compares to when Sean Jones sits in, for free, at a local Pittsburgh jazz jam session.
The session has been around for about two years now... it's a weekly thing, and Sean Jones easily shows up over half the time. When he's in town (Pittsburgh) he's almost ALWAYS there.

Naturally it is of course completely unrehearsed. And he's showing up and playing for free... with friends (other local Pittsburgh jazz musicians)... in an intimate, dark setting... amongst only people who truly appreciate the art form.

For me personally, nothing beats seeing someone who it would cost upwards of $20 bucks to see live in New York, coming into his local club and tearing it up with his friends, with no other intentions other than he loves to come, have a drink, relax, and play music

Greg, you are right.

Sean Jones is a fine trumpet player.

Sean Jones was part of the "Majesty of the Trumpet" show at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival this summer (with Jon Faddis and Wallace Roney). I had never heard him live before. WOW. Very impressive young man. I look forward to hearing him live in other contexts.

I must have him mixed up with someone else - I thought he was a smooth jazz player.
