ECM Catalogue 2009/10

Thanks to the kind person at ECM who took care of my e-mailed request, I received a printed copy a few days ago: 132 pages, 25 by 21 cm landscape format, softcover, and, as expected, of very high quality. The clear design and the many cover reproductions and photos, all printed on coated paper, make skimming through the catalogue a pleasure. For each album the available formats (LP, CD or download only) are listed together with the line-up and recording date. An introductory essay (bilingual, English / German) by Paul Griffiths and a musicians index are framing the actual catalogue.

The last page gives an outlook on the new releases in 2010, among them new albums by François Couturier, Steve Tibbetts and, as a new name, Judith Berkson. Also in the pipeline are several box sets with classic ECM albums by Eberhard Weber, Arild Andersen, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal and Chick Corea.

Essential reading for ECM fans in my opinion.

I would love a copy of the catalog (I used to get them, haven't in a few years) - how did you go about requesting it? thanks!

I sent a request to ecmrecords@ecmrecords.com . I received mine yesterday. (Thanks ECM!)

Love these catalogs. I've collected a quite a few from past years as well, going back to the inserts included in the LP's in the late 70's / early 80's, which I used to plot further purchases.

I used a slightly different address: ecm(at)ecmrecords.com

The last one I had was for 2001/02, so it was nice to get a more up-to-date version. Sure, the information is available online, but personally I prefer browsing a printed copy. And the musicians index, something that was not in the old version, makes it very easy to track all appearances of a musician.

Upcoming re-issues?

Glancing through the catalog, I noticed a few titles that are in preparation for release on CD for the 1st time:

Ralph Towner / John Abercrombie - Five Years Later (yeah!)
Jack DeJohnette - Inflation Blues
Arlid Andersen - Lifelines (also there will the box of 3 titles mentioned earlier in the thread, containing: Clouds in My Head, Shimri, Green Shading Into Blue)

I was hoping to see a John Abercrombie box with Arcade, M, and Quartet in the pipeline, but perhaps next time. (Arcade is listed as "download only")

There's also quite a few titles that look like they will be coming back into circulation on CD (and some that won't for the time being it seems)

Additional thanks and comment on the online catalog

Thanks to Paul Geffen for pointing this one out to me. There are many items which are download only. Would be great if these items could come out again as CDs too, even if just for a limited run.

RYPDAL/ARILD ANDERSEN BOX SETS

Great to see some archive items being shown as currently in preparation on CD for the first time. Although there are numerous goodies the highlights for me have to be the Andersen box set and the 4 Cd Rypdal with the complete version of Odyssey on CD for the first time.
