The Long Island Music Hall Of Fame Proudly Announces Third Induction Gala - November 16, 2010 At Oheka Castle, Huntington, NY

Diverse Induction Class Includes Jazz multi-instrumentalist Teddy Charles and Drummer Roy Haynes

(Port Jefferson, NY) The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) is proud to announce its Third Induction Award Ceremony and Fundraising Gala, which will take place on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the famed Oheka Castle, 135 West Gate Drive in Huntington, NY. Inductees include stars of the jazz world, vibraphonist Teddy Charles and drummer Roy Haynes. Other major stars from the Latin, hip-hop, classical, gospel, folk, rock ‘n roll, and oldies worlds will be joined by past inductees and celebrity presenters at the ceremony.

Teddy Charles is a pianist, drummer and vibraphonist who has worked with many of the great artists of the last 60 years including Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Chuck Willis and Earl Bostic. Visit him at http://www.teddy-charles.com/.

Roy Haynes, drummer and bandleader, is one of the most recorded percussionists in jazz for more than 60 years, and has been inducted into the Down Beat Magazine Hall of Fame. He has played in a wide range of styles ranging from swing and bebop to jazz fusion and avant-garde jazz. More about him at http://www.mahalo.com/roy-haynes.

Previous jazz inductees have been Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Marian McPartland and John Coltrane.

Other 2010 inductees include folk singer Oscar Brand, children's entertainers Paula and Carole from TVs The Magic Garden, heavy metal band Dream Theater, hip-hop performers Erik B. and Rakim, music photographer Bob Gruen, rock keyboardist Al Kooper, promoter and music executive Steve Martin, gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, WLIR program director Denis McNamara, legendary venue My Father's Place, Latin pianist Eddie Palmieri,, rock singer Lou Reed, oldies girl-group The Shangri Las and avant-garde saxophonist John Zorn. LIMHoF will also present the 2010 Music Educator of Note Award, and will formally present the 2009 Award to the family of Joseph Sugar, who passed away in 2009.

Inductees are selected by the LIMHoF Board of Directors from an evolving and growing list of people, artists, and entities that were born, raised, founded, or have resided on geographic Long Island (Brooklyn/Queens/Nassau/Suffolk) for a significant portion of their career. Induction is based on historical importance and the significance of their contribution to Long Island's rich musical heritage.

Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHOF) is a 501(c)(3) museum and membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island's musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award (LISA), traveling educational exhibits, and a scholarship program.
