Lagos Jazz Series with Randy Weston, Simone and many others
(Published: October 27, 2010)

Famous American pianist, composer and band leader, Randy Weston, will lead other top jazz artistes at the Lagos Jazz Series holding in Lagos in November.

Also on the bill are afrobeat flag bearer, Femi Kuti; Simone (daughter of legendary icon Nina Simone); Morrie Lode, Chinaza, Nneka, Mike Aremu and Aiyetoro.

Lagos Jazz Series was established to assuage the yearning of lovers of the soothing genre without necessarily having to leave the shores of Nigeria, the organisers say.

"They will have the opportunity to listen to the best of Jazz music in the garden, on the creek and on the waterfront, courtesy of the Lagos Jazz Series which was created with the main purpose of bolstering the Jazz genre in the Lagos metropolis," says founder of the event, Oti Bazunu.

He adds that the series will cater for select audience and accommodate all lovers of good music. Bazunu further states that it will feature top notch performances at the Sofitel Morehouse Hotel, the Federal Palace Hotel, and in Muri Okunola Park.

Bazunu says, "The Lagos Jazz series is a singular experience. We‘re inviting some of our favourite Jazz musicians from all over the world to come and play for us, in intimate and exciting venues. Since they‘re coming, we might as well put on a bit of a show and invite all our favourite people to attend."
