JazzCorner artist Amy London w. Annie Ross & Mark Murphy on Dec 14 at the New School
(Published: November 28, 2011)

New School University and vocalist, educator and Motéma recording artist, JazzCorner.com roster artist Amy London, are proud to announce 'PASSING THE TORCH...SONG,' a multi-generational evening of vocal jazz featuring NEA Jazz Master Annie Ross and six time Grammy nominee Mark Murphy. This special concert, taking place WEDNESDAY, December 14th, at 8:00 PM, at New School University's Arnhold Hall, celebrates the agelessness, beauty and depth of two of America's greatest inventions: the vocal jazz group and vocalese.

Singing with a ten voice jazz choir led by Amy London, the program will honor the careers of Ross and Murphy, two vocal jazz pioneers of the highest order, by presenting world premiere choral jazz arrangements of some of their hit songs including "Boplicity," "It's Sandman," "Senor Blues," "Red Clay" and "Music is Forever." Also on the program will be newly penned works, created especially for the evening, by London and budding arranger Dylan Pramuk, a recent graduate of the New School BFA Program. Supported by a fine rhythm section featuring Tardo Hammer on piano, Neal Miner on bass and Leroy Williams, the singers will perform brand new arrangements by London, Pramuk, Bill Mays and Rich de Rosa.

The ten voice choir includes London, Dylan Pramuk, guest vocalist Holli Ross, a veteran of solo and group singing in NYC, and seven of the finest singers currently in the NEW SCHOOL JAZZ BFA program. From jazz legends, to seasoned professional musicians, to top shelf students, the stage will truly represent a multi-generational celebration of the agelessness of jazz music, America's own
