Singer Laury Shelley brings tribute show to Katerina's in Chicago on July 18th

Katerina's welcomes back Laury Shelley with Tribute Show to Tony Bennett
Wednesday, July 18th at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10.00. Musicians/Students: $5.00.

Singer/songwriter Laury Shelley has been a performing artist ever since she can remember. Laury was living her dream touring with composer, Michel Legrand, as Legrand's vocal soloist. During these amazing years, Laury shared the bill with many a well know vocalist. One of them was Tony Bennett. During their time together, Laury watched and learned from him. This special tribute show will feature songs such as "For Once In My Life", "Because of You", "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and selections from Bennett's collaboration with Bill Evans. The show features Musical Direction/Arrangements by the gifted Jeremy Khan. So come and share the evening with the gifted storyteller that is singer, Laury Shelley.
Laury made her debut at the prestigious Carnegie Hall while also appearing at The Sahara Hotel in Vegas, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, Miami's Stars Under the Stars Concert Series at Marine Stadium and The Westbury Theatre in New York. Other appearances include: Jazz Showcase, Katerina's in Chicago, Coq d'Or & Palm Court at The Drake Hotel, Pete Miller's, Catch Thirty Five and Maxim's in Chicago, Cinegrill in LA, Iridium Jazz Club in NY, Summer fest in Milwaukee, Taste of Chicago and Chicago's Jazz Festival and a reunion with mentor, Michel Legrand at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minn.

Jeremy Kahn:
Musical Director, Arranger
One of Chicago's best known musical directors/pianist, having worked with legends Dizzy Gillespie, Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin and Branford Marsalis; well known jazz singer Spider Saloff and is currently the pianist in the ChicagoJazz Ensemble. On the Broadway stage, Jeremy has played in the pit for Wicked, Spamalot,The Lion King, Les Miserables and Aida. Jeremy has also been a featured performer at the Chicago Jazz Festival, while also being heard on the radio shows of Studs Terkel and Marian McPartland.

Eric Hochberg:
A mainstay of the Chicago music scene for more than twenty-five years, Eric Hochberg has lent his bass work -- both upright and electric -- and an occasional vocal and trumpet lick, to a variety of projects across the realms of jazz, folk, rock and blues. He has performed and/or recorded with the likes of Phil Woods, Bob Dorough, Ken Nordine, Paul Wertico, Henry Butler and Icon Barbra Streisand. Hochberg's groups perform frequently around Chicagoland. The Eric Hochberg Orchestra has performed for countless events of all kinds over the past twenty years. As a composer, Eric has made contributions to Kurt Elling's "Close Your Eyes" and "The Messenger" on Blue Note, Paul Wertico's "Yin and the Yout" and The Paul Wertico Trio's "Live in Warsaw" & "Don't Be Scared Anymore", to name a few.

Bob Rummage: Percussionist
His versatile schedule of performances include a variety of Chicago ensembles ranging from Rob Parton's Jazz Tech Big Band to the music of the Mark Colby Quartet to the eclectic styles of Howard Levy. He has performed with many internationally known musicians such as Nat Adderly, Benny Golson, Buddy DeFranco and Mississippi blues man, Mose Allison. Mr. Rummage teaches jazz drumset and jazz combos at DePaul University and is a much sought after clinician having made appearances at various high schools and colleges including the University of Illinois.

David Gross: Trombone
David's performing credits include jazz talents as Bunky Green, Bobby Watson, Bobby Shew, Clark Terry, Conte Candoli, Jiggs Whigham, Rob McConnell, Ashley Alexander, Dennis DiBlasio, Bunky Green, Pete Christlieb, Frank Mantooth, Louie Bellson, Ed Soph, Rob McConnell, Steve Houghton, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Diane Schurr, Rich Matteson, Terry Gibbs, Jack Jones, as well as Laury Shelley and other gifted musicians. David can also be heard on the Grammy Nominated CD with the 911 Mambo Orchestra, other CDs, albums, and performing with other local Chicago ensembles".
