Jazz Shows Hit New NYC Venue, SubCulture, This May. (Published: April 22, 2013)
With a tagline of "Arts Underground," SubCulture features cutting edge music and performances from budding artists to industry legends of all genres, evoking a subterranean Carnegie Hall.
Though their ‘grand opening' is slated for early September, this May SubCulture will play host to a variety of artists from the jazz world including a residency from featuring award-winning Canadian Jazz pianist, vocalist, and songwriter Laila Biali, steel drum phenomenon Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, indie-jazz quartet Bryan and the Aardvarks, composer and improviser Gregg Kallor, and numerous other shows.
In June they are beyond delighted to host Macy Gray + David Murray Infinity Quartet as they bridge Blues, Pop, Soul and Jazz in Stomping and Singin' the Blues.
