An NEA Jazz Master, a nine-time Grammy nominee and famed for his lyrical style, pianist Kenny Barron celebrates his 70th birthday in June. Bassist Dave Holland got his big break from Miles Davis and has since played with artists from Thelonious Monk to Bonnie Raitt. In June 2011 at the Montreal Jazz Festival the two jazz legends and longtime friends played together onstage as a duo for the first time; the Montreal Gazette said it "delivered all it promised."
