SFJAZZ Presents... Caribbean Sensibility for Drummers w/ Josh Jones (Published: July 17, 2013)

This class is a must for drummers interested in the music of the Caribbean. Drummer Josh Jones will discuss the drumming traditions of Cuba, as well as the evolution of roots reggae rhythms. With the help of steel pan master Jeff Narell, and keyboardist extraordinaire Colin Hogan, Josh will demonstrate examples of Soca, Calypso, Salsa, Cha Cha, Reggae, and Dancehall, and address how these styles relate to jazz and contemporary music. Drummers and percussionists of all levels welcome!
