Remembering Marian: A Celebration of the Music and Life of Marian McPartland March 20 - 7:30pm
(Published: February 13, 2014)

On what would have been Marian McPartland's 96th birthday, NPR's "Piano Jazz" and 92Y, together with Marian's family and friends, invite you to a musical memorial honoring her life, music and enduring legacy.

This event is free on March 20, but you must reserve your tickets:

Ms. McPartland was one of jazz piano's most prolific artists, with dozens of albums and countless concerts, including 13 appearances at 92Y. Even more, she was its most dedicated and gracious advocate, as "Piano Jazz" host for 33 years. Now, please join us and her other fans as we celebrate a great artist and an even greater lady.

Additional artists to be announced, plus Surprise Guests

There is another event in recognition of the life of Marian McPartland the following Saturday, March 22, at 5PM, at the Port Washington Public Library, Port Washington, NY. Focusing on Marian's support of young talent, the evening will feature Jon Weber, pianist and new host of NPR's Piano Jazz with performances by young jazz performers. One young performer will receive a scholarship from the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. This also is a free event

If you can't make it to either event, DVDs of "In Good Time" the documentary about Marian McPartland are available at http://www.filmsbyhuey.co...
