"Santa Baby" Singer Cynthia Basinet Petitions The United Nations
(Published: October 10, 2014)

NEW YORK - The singer, actress Cynthia Basinet, best known for the iconic version of "Santa Baby" petitions the United Nations on behalf of issues facing the Western Sahara.

From the UN official site:

"CYNTHIA BASINET, singer and actress, said that she had been petitioning on behalf of Western Sahara for more than 10 years, while many had been doing it for decades longer. She asked what could be done for the United Nations to be invested in aggregating the necessary change to "live the oath and pledge" that it had undertaken."

Cynthia visited the W. Sahara in 2001 in efforts to raise awareness for the Saharwian refugees living in self-determination.

She was subsequently nominated for a shared Nobel Peace Prize as part of the "1000 PeaceWomen Across the Globe".

The LA native is best known for the sultry hit, "Santa Baby" recorded in 1997 and often credited to Marilyn Monroe.

Her latest single, "Eventually" can now be heard on Pandora.
