Alicia Olatuja at BRIC House on 10/16 (Published: October 15, 2014)
BRIC is pleased to present an evening with acclaimed Brooklyn singer Alicia Olatuja at BRIC House on Thursday, October 16. She comes to BRIC House with bassist and husband Michael Olatuja as the Olatuja Project, where they will celebrate the release of her solo debut album Timeless (October 14, World Tune Records) in a performance featuring three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning bassist Christian McBride as guest artist.
Tickets for the performance, which are $15 advance/$20 at the door, are available by visiting www.BRICartsmedia.org or by calling 866-811-4111.
Olatuja electrified a crowd of a million people on the National Mall at the 2013 presidential inauguration with her richly textured, show-stopping solo with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Having sung with various icons including Chaka Khan and Bebe Winans, Olatuja sings with a "strong, lustrous tone" (The New York Times), and mixes elements of classical, jazz, gospel and pop into her fluid vocalism. The singer is also a voice teacher, a vocal producer, and a teaching artist for the Brooklyn Arts Council.
