Cirque Du Soleil Prepares To Release Jazz/Swing-Influenced "Kurios-Cabinet of Curiosities" Soundtrack
(Published: November 20, 2014)

Cirque du Soleil has just announced a December 9, 2014 release date for KURIOS-Cabinet of Curiosities, the soundtrack to their latest Big Top show, which represents a thrilling new sound for the company. In line with the show's theme of time travel, the music of KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities (composed by Raphael Beau with Bob & Bill) compels you to imagine musicians from jazz's peak era performing alongside contemporary DJs. The blending of vintage and modern styles in the music (a theme that extends to all facets of the show) serves to present jazz and swing in a way that has universal appeal. The intriguing songs complement the show's mission, which is to blur the lines of fantasy and reality, immersing the viewer in a mysterious and fascinating realm that disorients the senses and challenges perceptions. KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities, the show, will open in San Francisco, CA, on November 14th, 2014. The soundtrack is currently available for preorder on Amazon music.

Inspired by electro-swing, jazz and the sounds of the Big Band Era, KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities represents an entirely fresh take on these beloved musical genres. "Inverted World" starts off with a beautiful classical piano and string duo before diving into a 1920s influenced klezmer/banjo bluegrass mashup with hints of jazz legend Django Reinhardt. The soundtrack continues this classical/contemporary mix with the counterbalance of a piano solo with theremin on the song "Departure." Swing beats are placed front and center on the fast-paced "Say That Thing," "Go the We Bap" and "You Must Be Joking." All of these songs move the story of KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities forward, creating an intricate and rich sound that will resonate with music lovers everywhere.

In keeping with the theme of juxtaposing modern and vintage eras, a limited-edition vinyl version of KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities will be released, featuring completely original artwork. This special vinyl version will be made available exclusively at performances of KURIOS-Cabinet Of Curiosities.
