Godfather Of Fusion Larry Coryell Will Present "War And Peace" Opera
(Published: May 02, 2015)

On May 29th, world-renowned guitarist Larry Coryell will perform at one of the biggest guitar festivals in Europe-The World Of Guitar 2015-founded in Kaluga, Russia. During the years, «The World of Guitar» has presented admirers with the greatest names of classical and contemporary guitar music, such as: Steve Vai, John Mclaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola, to name a few. This time on the festival's stage Larry Coryell with Moscow City Symphony and the most prominent Russian guitarist Roman Miroshnichenko's band will present his new opera «War and Peace», based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy.

Larry Coryell: -"This work is intended to touch listeners' hearts with the simple but often-misunderstood message about the sanctity of peace. By "peace" I mean to say not just the absence of violence but a pro-active statement that means: peace is the way. Like so many operas, this work is of a tragic nature. It is the story of Russia's struggle and eventual victory (at great cost) with Napoleon's voracious armed forces in the early 19th century. My heart requests nothing more than just that . . . to bring happiness to whomever hears this, and thus to spur the forward progression of humanity.

The day before, the guitar duo of Larry Coryell and Roman Miroshnichenko will perform at River Club, Moscow.

Roman Miroshnichenko: -"Every time I play with Larry the only thing I can say to myself is: how he can be so incredibly brilliant and overfull of ideas! Larry definitely is one of the legendary guitarists who has influenced all other guitarists, as well as my own playing!"
