Granelli shows the world What He Hears Now with CD Release Celebration in Halifax, NS on July 14th, 2015 Granelli shows the world What He Hears Now with CD Release Celebration in Halifax, NS on July 14th, 2015
(Published: July 05, 2015)

The Jerry Granelli Trio +3 is the newest project from this Canadian music icon and Granelli brings a lifetime of influence and storytelling to his latest album. A deliberate exploration of horn writing and arranging, he features Canadian saxophone leader Mike Murley on this dynamic album. From the haunting harmonies on "Another Place" to the deep grooves on "The Swamp", Jerry takes the listener on a journey through his own mind, and what he hears now.

Granelli serves up adventurous and free-spirited jazz, ably abetted by his combo. Definitely a Juno nomination contender, the album shows that, on the cusp of 75, Granelli remains a vital force.
Kerry Doole - New Canadian Music

The album will be celebrated with a CD Release performance at 1313 Hollis (Halifax, NS) on Tuesday, July 14th at 7:30 PM.

Born in 1940, Drummer/Composer/Professor/Sound Painter Jerry Granelli has enjoyed an incomparable career in music from the inside out...way out! The winner of the last NEA Grant awarded ascended from playing with the great pianist Vince Guaraldi at the height of his popularity while simultaneously exploring Free Jazz on San Francisco's thriving after hours sets in the early `60s to establishing academic arts curriculums to indoctrinate and perpetuate alternative musical forms such as Spontaneous Composition in the present. A pioneer of `60s psychedelic sounds, a sideman on a Top 5 pop hit and a session musician for Sly Stone, Granelli is a forward thinking master in the art of music. Since the late `80s, he has recorded over 20 albums as a leader and/or soloist...in jazz and the indefinable beyond.

From muscular to meditative, drummer/composer Jerry Granelli's music spans a continent-wide range of expressiveness. What I Hear Now is a strong statement from a man whose lifetime commitment to music resonates in every track. Glen Hall - Exclaim.ca

What I Hear Now was officially released internationally on Tuesday, May 26th on Addo Records.
