NEW YORK, NY - January 9, 2016 - Rising Star pianist KYOKO OYOBE brings together a stellar group for her return performance at The Kitano on Friday January 15, 2016 during APAP, Jazz Connect and Winter JazzFest Week with guest artist GREG OSBY to celebrate the release of her CD Happy Silence | Kyoko Oyobe Quartet (Oyobe Music) featuring Steve Wilson, Michael O'Brien and Matt Wilson; an open and adventurous musical collaboration.

Jazz Pianist Kyoko Oyobe brings together a masterful quartet for her return to one of New York City's best rooms, The Kitano, to perform a night of music with selections from her latest CD release "Happy Silence" On Friday January 15, 2016, Oyobe will be joined by Saxophone great Greg Osby, long time bassist Michael O'Brien and drummer John Riley (Vanguard Big Band). Her new release showcases her impressive scope as a composer, arranger and band leader. This Japanese born pianist has performed and travelled around the world in concert with noted musicians Matt Wilson, featured on her CD, Gene Jackson, Steve Wilson, Tom Harrell, Victor Lewis, Joe Magnarelli, Greg Osby, Francois Moutin, Randy Brecker, Ben Monder, Clifford Barbaro, Stacy Dillard, Martin Wind, and Roy Hargrove Her prowess as a superlative jazz pianist is recognized internationally by musical peers

Kyoko Oyobe is a gifted artist who explores different modes of expression conveyed within a subtext of intimacy found in duets with trumpeters, like Tom Harrell and Joe Magnerelli or through original compositions inspiring and reflected in novels by the renowned Japanese novelist, Rui Kodemari. She travels through music instilling an essence and distinct color that borrow from Be-Bop to Brazilian and Free Jazz to French-Impressionist, early 20th century voicings, yet sealing her own inimitable style
