Buster Poindexter returns to Café Carlyle, January 26-February 6
(Published: January 25, 2016)

Hot on the heels of his celebrated role as the singing bartender in Sofia Coppola's acclaimed musical comedy A Very Murray Christmas, Buster Poindexter returns to Café Carlyle for another two-week residency, January 26-February 6. As a founding member of the New York Dolls and in a prolific solo career, David Johansen has been a seminal force in rock and roll, influencing countless singers and bands to this day. Buster Poindexter, Johansen's celebrated alter ego showcases his elegant crooning through R&B ballads. As Poindexter, his previous engagements have been sellouts and he has become one of the most revered artists to grace Café Carlyle.

Performances will take place Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations made by phone at 212.744.1600 are $75 ($125 for premium seating, $55 for bar seating) Tuesday-Thursday; and $90 ($140 for premium seating, $75 for bar seating) on Friday and Saturday. Reservations made online at www.ticketweb.com are $80 ($135 for premium seating) Tuesday-Thursday; and $90 ($150 for premium seating) on Friday and Saturday. Café Carlyle is located in The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel (35 East 76th Street, at Madison Avenue).

Stephen Holden of The New York Times praised Buster Poindexter's most recent Café Carlyle performance: "With his towering pompadour, crocodile smirk, pencil-thin mustache and comic pseudonym, Buster Poindexter, a.k.a. David Johansen, may be the ultimate rock ‘n' roll lounge lizard." Additionally, Huffington Post declared "he's transitioned effortlessly onto the intimate uptown cabaret stage with a witty, smart show, sprinkling songs with jokes, backed by a first rate band." At The Carlyle, Poindexter will be joined by his fantastic four-piece band.
