The Haiti Jazz Roots Project at First Fridays, July 1
(Published: June 29, 2016)

July 1: The City of Miami Beach presents First Fridays, featuring the Haiti Jazz Roots Project from 6-9 PM at Normandy Fountain. Led by guitarist Jean Chardavoine, the ensemble features Jennifer Louis, vocals; Kenneth Gimenez, bass; Mike Orta, piano; Shay Eisten, drums.

Chardavoine is a concrete manifestation of "Haitian jazz," a new genre emerging in jazz today. Haitian-born but Brooklyn-bred, this amazing guitarist has covered the gambit of musical styles through the waves of his guitar. He is a great musician, a talented artist and a refined professional. He represents the best of modern music and the future of jazz.

The concert is FREE; tables are set up by the fountain (Normandy Drive and 71st St.) and food is available from nearby restaurants.
