Kaitlyn Baker's ‘Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' is Saxy Fun
(Published: December 01, 2016)

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - Country singer Kaitlyn Baker gets into the holiday spirit with a jazzy version of the Brenda Lee classic "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" (Mansion Entertainment).

Baker, who grew up in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, is known for her more traditional country style of music, with touches of bluegrass, blues, rock and gospel. However, she had never incorporated a saxophone into her music, until now.

"This song has always been one of my favorites, because it's just so family-oriented and fun," Baker said. "I'm not trying to sound like Brenda Lee on this record, but I wanted it to be a little similar to the original, which is why there is a strong emphasis on the saxophone."

The single features Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Andy McCormick on tenor sax, rhythm guitar, electric guitar and drums, and Graham Scott on bass. The music video features several of her family members and friends. (See it here: https://youtu.be/66QOrf45rL4)

Baker's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" was produced by Scott Arnold, with whom she has collaborated on many other projects, and recorded at Mansion Recording Studio in Franklin, Tennessee.

Baker, who is from the coal mining town of Pound, Virginia, previously released the singles "To Pieces," "Burn" and "Coal Train," the latter of which was included on the 2015 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards ZinePak, a compilation album that featured tracks by country superstars such as Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and others.
