This evening at The Crazy Coqs highlights Hoagy's special relationship with the music of legendary jazz cornettist Bix Beiderbecke. The programme features many of the well-known hits (Stardust, How Little We Know, Georgia On My Mind, Skylark, The Nearness Of You, Ole Buttermilk Sky, Lazy Bones, Old Rockin' Chair, et al) as well as some obscure nuggets and delightful curiosities from Hoagy's rich and varied songbook. Ella Fitzgerald was an American icon after a nearly six decade career. She was considered one of the unique and innovative vocalists in jazz history and sold tens of millions of albums.
Joe Pass, the eminent, guitarist, with his innovative use of chord changes and phrasing would influence a generation of jazz guitarists.
Ella and Joe came together during 1973 and over the next 13 years would record four studio albums and several live recordings which are must haves in any jazz collection.
Celebrating the centenary of Ella's birth, Tina May, the outstanding international singer gives voice to Ella's magical music, along with the fast rising guitar star of the National Jazz Orchestra, Nicholas Fitch.
