Shamie Royston Quintet
(Published: April 09, 2017)

Jazz pianist and audience favorite Shamie Royston returns with an all-star ensemble to Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown on Friday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. For the past several years, she has performed in Hightstown to a standing-room-only crowd. For this performance, she will be joined by four terrific musicians-bassist Yasushi Nakumura, trumpeter Josh Evans, saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, and drummer E.J. Strickland.

The event is hosted by REJS Entertainment.

Shamie Royston is a beloved pianist, composer and educator and has played at many of the top jazz venues and festivals in Europe and the U.S. Her "fiery, soulful piano playing" is featured on her debut CD, "Portraits." Since moving from Denver to New Jersey, she has been a steady performer with the Tia Fuller Quartet (her sister is Tia Fuller) and has played with many other great artists such as Christian McBride, Lonnie Plaxico, Ron Miles, Ralph Peterson, John Pattuci, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Sean Jones.

Much of her acclaim has been noted in her musical compositions as well as her exquisite ability to teach young musicians ranging from elementary school to the college level. She has given clinics and adjudicated high school and college jazz festivals and has been a clinician for top ensembles.

The April 28th concert takes place at Tavern on the Lake, 101 North Main Street in Hightstown, NJ, in the large private nightclub-like upstairs room. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 first set. Drinks and dinner can be purchased. Cost of the concert is $25. Call for tickets: 609-469-1228, 609-712-8904, 609-218-2284, 215-669-6594, 609-433-0489.
