Barb Jungr - Jazz Divas 2017 (Published: April 24, 2017)
Barb Jungr is an internationally acclaimed singer in the worlds of jazz and cabaret, with an exhilarating vocal style that fuses her sense of jazz, blues and soul with elements of everything from musical theatre to African and Iranian folk singing.
She was memorably described in 2016 as combining "technical perfection with ballsy passion; it's as if Edith Piaf and Nick Cave had a love-child, who was adopted by Carmen McRae".
Barb performs as part of the Jazz Divas series in London soon:

Well known to London audiences, and especially at St. James, Barb Jungr makes her Jazz Divas series debut with this concert performance of the material in her recently launched successful album "Shelter from The Storm"
Barb Jung's profoundly original arrangements of contemporary American songs have seen her recognised as one of the most important interpreters of the works of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
Her unrivalled ability as an enthralling song stylist brings new depth and insight into songs, not only by them, but also by acclaimed contemporary writers including Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim & Bernstein and Peter Gabriel.
This Jazz Divas concert includes in addition to these gems, several delightful songs written and performed by Barb herself.
Barb is accompanied on piano by Jamie Safir with David Mantovani on double bass.
