Somi's "Petite Afrique: A National Performance & Dialogue Series" at Aaron Davis Hall (Published: October 12, 2017)
Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Somi will bring the captivating sounds of her new CD, "Petite Afrique" ("Little Africa") to New York's Aaron Davis Hall for a special one-night-only concert presented by City College Center for the Arts.
Known for her unique merging of jazz and African musical stylings, Somi's latest offering was inspired by the section of Harlem known as "Little Africa"- an area in which African immigrants have long made their imprint on the storied New York neighborhood. Motivated by Somi's belief that art inspires dialogue and dialogue creates cohesion, directly following the musical concert there will be a panel discussion focused on immigration within the African Diaspora. Tickets for the 7:30pm event are $25 general admission and $10 for Harlem residents (ID required).
