Trio da Paz at Bailey Hall (Published: February 06, 2018)

On Saturday February 17, South Florida JAZZ presents Trio da Paz. Featuring three of Brazil's most in-demand musicians, Trio da Paz updated the infectious spirit of jazz-oriented Brazilian music by the fusion with North American jazz sensibilities and vocabulary. Formed in 1990 by guitarist Romero Lubambo, acoustic bass virtuoso Nilson Matta, and Brazil's swingingest drummer, Duduka da Fonseca, the trio has redefined Brazilian jazz with their harmonically adventurous interactions, daring improvisations, and fluid rhythmic undertow. All three players are seasoned masters of both jazz and Brazilian music and possess impressive resumes that have given the band worldwide recognition.
"Trio da Paz has been delivering blue-chip Brazilian jazz for decades, and the group shows no signs of slowing down. This is a band that keeps getting better with age."
- Dan Bilawsky, All About Jazz
The concert will start at 8 PM, preceded by "Ron's 15" -- a quarter-hour of Ron Weber's presentation. Tickets are on sale from $35 to $45 at southfloridajazz.org.
