Charlie Rauh delivers gorgeous atmospherics on new acoustic album
(Published: October 27, 2019)

Charlie Rauh is an artist and performer based in New York City. His style is incredibly diverse, blurring the lines between to seemingly opposite musical worlds: folk and jazz.

The two genres might seem like they are worlds apart from each other, but they actually share so many things in common, too. They are both quite understated and incredibly melodic, and they are soothing and delicate, in terms of the emotions that they are able to convey.

Rauh is a masterful guitarist, who knows how to load each note he plays with a lot of emotional intensity. His innovative guitar style reminds of iconic artists such as Bill Frisell, as well as Julian Lage, Nels Cline, and Dominic Miller, only to mention but a few.

His new album, Hiraeth, features many tasteful compositions, which highlight his passion for melodic writing, as well as his ability to challenge himself and come up with incredibly poignant arrangements that bring the songs to different places. This is a subtly beautiful record that focuses on Rauh's keen ability to create indelible indelible atmospheric soundtracks. Highly recommended.
