Munyungo Jackson Release's New Debut CD Morning Sun
(Published: November 11, 2019)

Los Angeles, CA September 20th 2019 - Los Angeles CA born and raised Munyungo Jackson has produced Morning Sun a transcending 15 tune set bound to be a favorite for all lovers of great music!

Born into a musical and creative surroundings his parents, Arthur Jackson Jr. & Genie Jackson, both maintained various involvement in music, dance & writing,

As a child, Munyungo was required to take classical piano lessons, and did so until he was nineteen years old.

But in his high school years, when one of his buddies started a Latin jazz band, seventeen-year-old Munyungo found himself uncontrollably attracted to the sound of the timbales, and his interest in piano began to fade.

He began spending more and more time with the percussionist in that band, soon discovering that he was quite skillful at observing and remembering the techniques. His first opportunity he purchased his very own set of timbales!

Also during this time Munyungo's father was the program director and this afforded him the opportunity immerse himself in the latin rhythms of Mongo Santamaria, Willie Bobo and Tito Puente! He practiced by playing his timbales along with these albums. Soon, his system of observation, plus practice proved to be an effective method of self training, and it wasn't long before he formed a Latin jazz band with his classmates!

From that point, he made the natural progression to Congas, Bongos, Latin Percussion & beyond eventually to religious Bata Drumming, and numerous drums & percussion from many different cultures.

Munyungo's credits are vast in both recording and performing, please click here for his credits, and they all culminate in the music of Morning Sun music that Munyungo calls "Jungle Jazz" and Munyungo further explains "we're in between so many musical genres, I don't want to get stuck in one genre! And as a percussionist and songwriter, we go many different places"!

Morning Sun does travel, weaving rhythms from Africa to South America, the Caribbean Islands and Cuba with perhaps the final stop, America the home of the swing!

To assist him in traversing the world of percussive music Munyungo has assembled a wonderful cast of incredible musicians to include John Beasley, Karen Briggs, Bill Summers and Dwight Trible!

In describing this music Munyungo says "Morning Sun, track 1 opens with a smooth beginning of the day. Taking you through a Desert Crossing track 2 and on to groovin' on a Wednesday Morning track 3."

"While you are Pushing Forward track 5 with the energy of Salsa which is track 7 landing you in the Peaceful Streams track 9 of life. it's a Grooveness track 10 on a Malian Flight track 11 and on into the blue skies bringing you into your spiritual consciousness in the powerful time of 4AM track 13".

"Finally landing you in the Rain Forest track 15 of possibilities"!

As a master of percussion instruments, Munyungo has amassed some 1,200 instruments and he's used many in creating the sheet of sound that is Morning Sun!
