Nancy Ruth delivers class, style, and passion on elegant new single
(Published: August 06, 2020)

Nancy Ruth delivers an elegant, classy, and richly nuanced song with so much to offer in terms of attitude and passion on "Breathing in Indigo." The single immediately kicks off with a warm and melodious classic guitar arrangement, perfectly matching Ruth's deep and sultry vocals. The production is rich and nuanced, with some incredible guitar playing. The synergy between all of the instruments is truly amazing, and there is something quite special about the way in which the arrangement is so minimalist yet so deeply powerful and articulate.

The song blurs the lines between folk, pop, singer/songwriter music, and even hints of Latin flavors, jazz, and fusion. Ruth has an amazingly versatile voice which suits the vibes of this production from the moment you hit the play button. She modulates her dynamics to match the intensity of any given part of the tune, from the verses, down to the choruses and the bridge, bringing some depth and texture to the track as a whole. The arrangement is really punchy, and I am a big fan of how everything comes together so seamlessly.

This is not only due to the great quality of the recording and the mastery of the production. It is, of course, also deeply related to the amazing skills of these fantastic musicians, who definitely know a thing or two about making great singles in the studio and allowing the sound to unfold beautifully, revealing so many mesmerizing layers. This song has a catchy and dynamic feel, which makes it super classy and easy to relate to for listeners from all walks of life. Any fan of quality acoustic music and fusion records is definitely going to enjoy this beautiful cut, as well as more from this talented artist and performer.

I would definitely recommend listening to this release, especially if you are a fan of artists as diverse as Ani DiFranco, Fleetwood Mac, Gillian Welsh and Joan Baez, only to mention but a few.
