Jizi's new EP displays amazing melodies and cinematic piano
(Published: January 28, 2021)

Some artists make music that is deeply tied to their feelings, and they use their song to express how they feel. The tracks on Jizi's most recent studio EP, Nostalgia, are all bout longing and missing the good old days, while still thinking of the past with a romantic outlook.

The EP features four songs. The first track is titled "Smile," and it features a dream-like piano introduction, with some charming sounds an a truly amazing set of melodies. The track immediately acquires a smooth groove, as the drums come in, along with a groovy and deep bass line. I love how the rhythm switches and acquires a bit more of a complex groove after a while, highlighting the artist's fusion influences. This is a perfect introduction, but it is about to get so much better, if that's even possible!

The next song on this EP is titled "Hear My Cry." As the title might suggest, this is a very soothing composition, with a little bit of a melancholic twist to it. The track beings with a smooth and somber piano melody, kind of reminiscent of the work of compositional geniuses such as the great Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as Alexandre Desplat, only to mention but a few. The interaction between the bass lines and the piano parts is truly amazing, and the strings really add even more of a nice texture, giving the track a cinematic feel to it.

The third song on this EP release is titled "Sweet Wind." This is the longest song on the record, and it is perhaps one of the most diverse tracks, highlighting Jizi's ability to really set the bar higher when it comes to his creativity and compositional skills. Last, but not least, "Happiness" is a wonderful song with so much heart, and it is one of the best moments on this beautiful instrumental EP release, which was actually dropped early in 2021. This release is definitely a fantastic beginning for the artist's new year!
