Rising Star French/American Jazz Vocalist Laura Anglade Set To Open for Melody Gardot On Upcoming North American Tour
(Published: August 04, 2022)

It's official! Laura Anglade, recognized by Radio Canada's Ici Musique as one of the top 5 female jazz musicians on the rise, is set as opening act for celebrated jazz vocalist Melody Gardot's forthcoming North American tour. Gardot recently announced her 'Entre eux duex tour' which will embark on Sept. 9 and conclude Sept. 21 in Los Angeles. Anglade has been touring throughout Canada, Europe and the U.S in conjunction with her latest album on Justin Time Records "Venez donc chez moi. She has been receiving high critical acclaim and will join Gardot on the following six concert dates:

9 - Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center - Westhampton Beach, NY
10 - Berklee Performance Center - Boston, MA
11 - Academy of Music - Northampton, MA
13 - Birchmere - Alexandria, VA
14 - Keswick Theater - Philadelphia, PA
15 - Town Hall - New York, NY

Laura Anglade, who is Toronto based is making a name for herself in the jazz world. Her singing is reminiscent of many of the great vocal stylists of the 20th century including Anita O'Day, Shirley Horn, and Blossom Dearie, but her voice is uniquely her own. She digs emotionally and eloquently into a standard, her story-telling abilities portray a soul beyond her years.

Her debut release, ‘I've Got Just About Everything' saw the vocalist and composer, along with her quintet, fearlessly plunging headlong into a wide range of top-notch material, drawn from both the Broadway stage as well as the Great American Songbook.  On her sophomore recording, ‘Venez donc chez moi', Laura teams up with Montreal guitarist Sam Kirmayer (and New-York based accordionist Benjamin Rosenblum on two tracks). It's an homage of sorts, and a nod to Laura's beloved France. It features jazz versions of French classics made famous by Maurice Chevalier, Boris Vian, Edith Piaf, and Jacques Brel to name a few. For her tour dates with Ms. Gardot she will be accompanied by guitarist David Rourke.
