Main Street, Durham, North Carolina, presents a book signing, October 25, 2022, at 6:30 pm, featuring Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based writer/radio announcer, Larry Reni Thomas, who will sign copies and talk about his latest book, Carolina Shout: The Carolina Jazz Connection. The book is about the fact that there are 80 and counting jazz musicians who were born in North Carolina, including John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, and Nina Simone.

The book includes transcriptions of interviews of scholars, musicians and friends of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, and Nina Simone. These insightful interviews are taken from the four-part audio documentary titled "The Great North Carolina Jazz Intellectuals" In addition, Carolina Shout: The Carolina Jazz Connection includes a list of the North Carolina natives, articles, and an essay titled; "What is Jazz?"
