The David Walker Cultural Center Presents A Book Signing/Lecture, October 29, 2022, Featuring Larry Reni Thomas, Author of Carolina Shout: The Carolina Jazz Connection!

Author Larry Reni Thomas will present a lecture/book signing, at The David Walker Cultural Center, 815 Rankin Street, Wilmington, North Carolina at 5:00 p.m., October 29. 2022.
Thomas, a Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based, Wilmington, North Carolina native, will talk about his latest book, Carolina Shout: The Carolina Jazz Connection! and the fact that there are over 80 and counting jazz musicians who were born in North Carolina, including Wilmington, North Carolina natives: bassist Percy Heath, saxophonists Larry Price and Willie Williams, and vocalist Cynthia Tyson.

Thomas's lecture also includes a brief history of The Barn, a dance hall that was popular in Wilmington, North Carolina and a reading of his essay: "What is jazz?"
